About the recipe
I’m so happy to partner with Danone Canada to share with you the recipe for this quick, easy and fresh Green Goddess Dressing. It’s an awesome way to use up tired herbs that are sitting in your fridge!
This dressing is called Green Goddess because it includes a lot of green vegetables and herbs. If you don’t have any of those on hand, you can make an orange goddess dressing, using some roasted squash and paprika, and make it spicy with some hot sauce! It’s really up to you and what you have on hand.

The first ingredient we need for this recipe is plain yogurt.
The classic option is Oikos Greek yogurt. You can find it with 0% or 2% fat. Oikos Greek yogurt is high in protein, thick, creamy and has a very smooth texture. It’s very versatile and can be used as a base in many savoury or sweet recipes and is a great way to bump up the protein content of any dish you make, with no added sugar.
You could also use Activia Plain yogurt for this recipe. Activia has an exclusive strain of probiotics*, which is bacteria to help support gut health. And it has no added sugars as well. The only thing to know is that since we want those good bacteria to stay active, Activia plain shouldn’t be heated or cooked, or be part of a recipe using alcohol.
*More than 109 CFU Bifidobacterium lactis per serving, a probiotic that contributes to healthy gut flora
For those of you who looking for a plant-based product, you could use Silk’s plain almond plant-based yogurt. It’s vegan, a very high source of fibre, once again, with no added sugar. It also comes in a variety of bases like oat or coconut.
Then comes all the greenery! I’m using avocado in this dressing to add some colour, healthy fats and fibre, and to add even more creamy-ness. If you don’t have any on hand, it’s okay. The yogurt base really takes care of the texture of this dressing.
For some veggies, I’m using spinach. It’s a quick way to add more vegetables and more fibre to this dressing. Plus, it’s a great way to use vegetables that are getting wilted! Spinach doesn’t really taste like anything so you can omit it or substitute it with any other greens of choice like arugula, kale, or re-use carrot tops.
As for the herbs, I’m using parsley, cilantro, a few mint leaves for some freshness and green onions. Cilantro is the type of herb that you either love or hate, so you can leave it out if you don’t like it, and add more parsley instead! And if you don’t have mint, you could also use fresh basil or ready-made pesto instead! Another option would be to use dried herbs for this recipe.
To make the dressing thicker, you can add more yogurt or spinach. On the other hand, you can make it thinner by adding more water.

For best results, I recommend using a blender, food processor or immersion blender to make this dressing. If you don’t have those tools on hand, you can always finely mince the spinach and herbs and mix them with the other ingredients.
Have it with your favourite nourish bowl, salad, use it to top tacos or as a dip with some veggies!
